Kannada film KGF (Kolar Gold Fields), starring Yash and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles, released on Friday. The film is written and directed by Prashanth Neel. Vijay Kiragandur has produced the film under the banner Hombale films. The movie has also been released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.
The opening day box office collection prediction was Rs. 20-25 crore worldwide and in Hindi language, it was expected that the film would gross Rs. 3-5 crores.
The Day 1 collections at the Bengaluru box office are likely to be around Rs 4 Crore.
This movie released on 2460 screens in India, out of which 1500 are Hindi, 400 are Kannada, 400 are Telugu, Tamil are 100, Malayalam are 60, according to Trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
This is the first chapter of the movie which has also been released in English language in USA and Canada. In the US, the film has grossed Rs. 40 lakh from the premiere shows.
With the upcoming festive weekend, KGF is expected to do phenomenal business at the box office. If the film has been released solo it would have done a better collection at the box office.
KGF hit the screens alongside the Bollywood biggie Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles and the Tamil action sequel film Maari 2 starring Dhanush and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. Several other films also released on Friday, which has affected the collections of KGF.
