Kolkata, Aug 18 (IANS) A popular city restaurant chain owner’s son, who had mowed down two Bangladeshi nationals while speeding in his luxury car, was on Sunday sent to 12 days police custody, police said.

“Arsalan Parwez, 21, has been sent to police custody till August 29,” a senior officer of Kolkata Police said.

The incident took place at around 1.50 a.m. on Saturday at the Shakespeare Sarani- Loudon Street crossing in central Kolkata.

Parwez’s car, apparently hit by another vehicle, crashed into a traffic signal post before ploughing into the victims. Another pedestrian was also injured in the accident.

Parwez had fled from the spot after the accident but he was arrested later.

He is the son of the owner of famous Biryani restaurant chain, Arsalan.
