Kolkata: Technician dies after getting stuck in landing gear door of SpiceJet aircraft

The body of the technician was removed from landing gear with the help of Fire brigade. A primary probe revealed that he died after being suffocated.

In a tragic incident, a SpiceJet technician lost his life after getting stuck in main landing gear door while working on an aircraft at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata at around 1AM on July 10. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Rohit Virendra Pandey.

As quoted by a few media reports, an official at Kolkata airport said that the victim was carrying out maintenance on the landing gear of the Bombardier Q400 plane when the landing door accidentally got closed and he got stuck there.

The body of the technician was removed from landing gear with the help of Fire brigade. A primary probe revealed that he died after being suffocated.

The Airport police are investigating the incident so as to ascertain the causes behind it. The body will be sent for postmortem soon. Further details are awaited.
