Bengaluru, Aug 5 (IANS) The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has joined forces with a number of other organisation to create a dedicated Covid Care Centre where 50 per cent of the beds are for the employees of the four state road transport corporations and they will be treated for free, an official said on Wednesday.

Developed in public private partnership (PPP), the KSRTC CCC will have 200 beds in the first phase to augment it with 100 more as demand goes up.

“KSRTC has provided the ground floor and first floor of Sri Basweshwara Bus Station premises in Peenya, Bengaluru for the establishment of CCC,” said a KSRTC official. The transport body has joined hands with Rotary, Titan, Advika Care Foundation and Nayonika Eye Trust to help the employees who might get infected.

The centre will be run by medical partner Prakriya Hospitals while Titan is the major funding partner.

On Wednesday, Transport Minister Laxman Savadi inaugurated the centre in the presence of KSRTC managing director Shivayogi Kalasod and others.

Addressing the 700 recovered employees of KSRTC, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Northwest Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and Northeast Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC), Savadi requested them to maintain physical distancing and asked them to wear a mask.

According to the official, out of 1,000 infections in the four corporations, 700 have recovered.

In the KSRTC CCC, 50 per cent of the beds are reserved for four road transport corporations’ employees and their families.

Likewise, 10 per cent of the beds can be allotted for patients referred by Rotary and Titan who will be charged government fixed rates while it is free of cost for the employees and their families.
