Hindu Mahasabha leader Kamlesh Tiwari was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Lucknow on Friday afternoon. The Hindu outfit member was attacked by assailants inside his office in Khurshidbagh, Naka area of Lucknow.

Tiwari was one of the influential persons in the area and had served as the president of the right-wing group.

Going by the early reports in the matter, the assailants visited Tiwari’s office on the pretext of handing over a gift. However, as soon as they walked in, the attackers opened fire on Tiwari and fled from the spot.

He was rushed to the Trauma Centre where Tiwari succumbed to injuries

As soon as the news of Tiwari’s death broke out, there was a tension as well as anger in the mob. Several leaders, members of Hindu outfit and other residents started protesting against the assassination of Tiwari in the broad daylight. In fact, shops in the area have been closed due to tension.

Tiwari was in news recently for giving a controversial remark involving Prophet Muhammad.
