Madhepura Lok Sabha Constituency, Bihar: Current MP, Candidates, Polling Date and Election Results

Madhepur is one of the five constituencies in Bihar to go on polls in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019. Janata Dal-United (JDU) which is in ally partner of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has fielded Dinesh Chandra Yadav from Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency, while Sharad Yadav is set to contest from the constituency for the Mahagathbandhan.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Pappu Yadav had won the elections with the margin of over 56 thousand votes to its nearest competitor Sharad Yadav who had then contested for the JDU.

The voting for Bihar’s 40 Parliamentary seats will take place in seven phases beginning April 11. The last phase will be held on May 19.

According to Election Commission of India 2009 reports 1,508,361 is the total electorate count here. Out of these 790,185 number of electorates are males and the remaining 718,176 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest.

Madhepura constituency comprises the following six Vidhan Sabha segments: Alamnagar, Bihariganj, Madhepura, Sonbarsha, Saharsa, Mahishi.

In Phase III of the voting for the 17th Lok Sabha, elections will take place in 115 Lok Sabha constituencies across 14 states. Voting for this phase will take place on April 23. While, like all the other phases, counting will take place in May 23.

Along with Lok Sabha Elections, voting will also take place for the third phase of Odisha Assembly Elections 2019. The turnout in the last general election in 2014 was more than 66%, up from 45% in 1951 when the first election was held.
