Madhya Pradesh: 11 year-old sold to man thrice her age, raped for three days

In an appalling incident, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly sold by her alcoholic father to a man thrice her age. The incident surfaced from Chattarpur district of Bundelkhand. Reportedly, the 35-year old man raped her for three days and dumped the child back in her village saying that she was weeping too much.

The crime took place on May 15 but came to the limelight now. Her mother who had no clue that her daughter had been sold immediately went to police to report the matter.

As per the child’s complaint, her father got her married to Devi Bhaskar for Rs 50,000 on May 12. He then took her to a nearby temple where the confused child was wrapped in a Sari and a mangalsutra tied around her neck. Then they told her she was married.

Her complaint said that for the next three days the husband raped her repeatedly and the traumatized girl kept weeping but this has also angered the man and his parents. She was then taken back to her father complaining that she cried all the time.

The complaint further read that the girl’s mother who had been living in neighboring Sagar district after some dispute with her husband was informed about the incident.

Girl’s mother said that “When I saw her, she was weeping. She was still wearing her wedding sari and sindoor. My husband and his sister had sold her to a man three times elder to her.”

However, the police have arrested the accused, Bhaskar for raping a child and he has been booked under POSCO act. Further investigation into the case is underway.

Also, the police said that there are some other allegations laid by the girl that is being investigated.
