Madhya Pradesh: Cabinet approves religious freedom ordinance, can be jailed for 10 years

The BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madha Pradesh earlier today on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, approved the Dharma Swatantrata- Religious freedom bill to prevent love jihad.

Cabinet approves religious freedom ordinance

The BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madha Pradesh earlier today on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, approved the Dharma Swatantrata- Religious freedom bill to prevent love jihad.

As the cabinet has approved the bill, now the ordinance will be sent to the governor for approval. According to this law, anybody who tries to convert, Kure, threaten religion will be impressed for 10 years and a fine will be imposed for Rs 1 lakh on the unlawful act.

Earlier the bill was to be passed in three-day session in Madhya Pradesh but due to the rising condition of covid-19 the BJP led government by Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Madhya Pradesh adjourned teh session on Sunday and therefore the government approved by bringing in an ordinance.

Going and following the lines of Uttar Pradesh- Uttar Pradesh Law Against Religion Prohibition Ordinance-2020 to prevent love jihad. Following the same as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh government has too provided a provision for 10 years of imprisonment on forcible conversion and that from the passing of this bill now, no person will be able to convert or attempt to convert in the name of religion.
