Madhya Pradesh: Four prisoners escape from Kanawati Sub Jail; authorities order manhunt

The accused were in prison for murder, rape and two of them were involved in the illegal trade of drugs.

In a bizarre incident reported from Neemcuh district of Madhya Pradesh, four prisoners of Kanawati Sub Jail managed to flee in the wee hours of Sunday. A massive search has been launched for four prisoners all under age of 30 years.

According to RC Basunia, Jailor, Neemuch District Prison, all four prisoners, identified as Narsingh, Dube Lal, Pankaj and Lekh Ram, cut the bars of the jail with the help of a saw and jumped the wall by using a rope between 3-4 AM.

The incident has raised questions about the security arrangements made at the prison.

Meanwhile, the authorities have ordered a probe and they are trying to ascertain how the prisoners managed to escape.

The accused were in prison for murder, rape and two of them were involved in the illegal trade of drugs. The local police have alerted the city about the escape.

The 20-year-old Narsingh is a resident of Udaipur and is serving a 10-year-jail term following his conviction under the NDPS Act. Lekh Ram (29) is a resident of Mandsaur district.

19-year-old Dubey Lal has been convicted in a case of rape under Section 376 of the IPC. Pankaj he has also been convicted under the NDPS Act for drugs smuggling.
