Madhya Pradesh seems to have seeped into a political crisis after 17 MLAs of the ruling Congress party apparently went missing Tuesday. The missing legislators have owed allegiance to Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, a rival of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

The developments of Tuesday forced Kamal Nath to call for a late-night meeting of his cabinet, during which around 20 ministers of the state government resigned in an attempt to allow the chief minister to reconstitute the cabinet and placate the ‘rebel’ MLAs.
