Madhya Pradesh state government has decided to boost liquor shops that have been set up for women to facilitate safe and hassle-free buying of alcoholic drinks among women.

These outlets will also stock wine and whiskey brands that are known among women. These exclusive shops would be quite similar to those that we find in New Delhi, Mumbai or any other metropolitan city.

According to TOI, Officials say, “As for now we have no plans to levy extra duty on foreign alcohol brands, as it is brought to the country after paying duty. These exclusive shops would open market for the sale of expensive liquor in the state, he added.”

Officials also said that the schedule and number of days the wine festivals would be held would only be finalized in the month of April.

Fifteen new wine shops would be expected to open in tourist places of the state to promote grapevine wine in Ratlam and other pockets of the state.

From April 1 liquor prices in Madhya Pradesh might shoot up by 15%, the day new excise policy comes into effect. It will cover all kinds of liquor sold in MP, including country-made and Indian made foreign liquor.
