Madhya Pradesh: Police rescue two girls stuck in Pench river who went in middle of river to take a selfie; WATCH

Every year, we see some shocking and risk taking incidents by the people for their love of taking selfie and there are various awareness campaigns not to risk lives for taking selfies, there seems to be no effect of the urgings on the youths. In a fresh incident, two young girls put their lives at risk after they waded into the swelling Pench river to take a selfie. The girls later got stuck in the raging waters of the Pech river in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media. Later, police and other officials waded through the waist-deep water and rescued the two trapped girls.

The girls were reportedly part of a group who went for a picnic at Belkhedi village despite restricting on mass gathering in view of coronavirus pandemic.

To take a ‘perfect selfie’, the girls stood on a stone in the middle of a river and suddenly water came gushing trapping the two.

Their friends immediately informed police and local administration who mounted a rescue.

A local police official speaking about the incident said, “A few girls came to this mountain river Pench, out of which 2 of them went inside to take a selfie. During that time because of rains, the river flow suddenly increased. They stood there for around 1 hour and showed courage. As soon as we were informed, we rescued them. Everyone is safe. They have been sent to a hospital as they were scared.”
