Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh resigns after Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe

The Bombay High Court has ordered the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the allegations leveled against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh on Monday resigned from the post after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into corruption charges levelled against him.

The Bombay High Court has ordered the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry within 15 days into the allegations leveled against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. The High Court said that the allegations against Deshmukh are ‘extraordinary’ & ‘unprecedented’ and warranted an independent probe.

It directed the CBI) director to complete the preliminary inquiry within 15 days and then take a decision on further course of action.

BJP leader and Former CM Devendra Fadnavis lashed out at the Maha Aghadi government and demanded that the Home Minister has no moral authority to continue in his post after the grave indictment by the High Court.
