The murder of George Floyd took place on 25 May after a white cop pressed his knee on the African-American man’s neck.
Following the incident, protesters have taken to the streets across the country to protest against police brutality and racial injustice. Some of the protesters have also resorted to violence and looting.
The US prosecutors have charged several police officers in the case. The main accused, Derek Chauvin, who was caught on video pressing his knee to Floyd’s neck, has been charged with second-degree murder.
The three other officers at the scene were charged for the first time with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
