Mahatma Gandhi statue outside Indian Embassy in Washington DC vandalised by protesters

In United States as the protest is marking the new revolution as people are protesting for George Floyd’s murder, there is one such disturbing development that is coming from there is that a statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed outside the Indian embassy in Washington DC has been desecrated by Black Lives Matter protesters, news agency ANI has reported.

The United States Park police have launched an investigation into the desecration of the statue, the news agency said quoting sources.

Protests have erupted across the US over the death of an African-American man, George Floyd, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The murder of George Floyd took place on 25 May after a white cop pressed his knee on the African-American man’s neck.

Following the incident, protesters have taken to the streets across the country to protest against police brutality and racial injustice. Some of the protesters have also resorted to violence and looting.

The US prosecutors have charged several police officers in the case. The main accused, Derek Chauvin, who was caught on video pressing his knee to Floyd’s neck, has been charged with second-degree murder.

The three other officers at the scene were charged for the first time with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
