Popular Malayalam actor Dileep who has been arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of a leading South Indian actress in February this year has now been sent to 14 days judicial custody on Tuesday morning by a court in Angalamay.
Dileep was arrested Monday evening from Kochi and was later brought to the residence of the magistrate this morning amidst tight police security. After completing all the custodial formalities, the magistrate remanded him to judicial custody.
The chief minister’s office confirmed that actor Dileep has been arrested with regard to the case on the basis of strong new evidence that was received by the Kerala Police. The 48-year-old Kerala-based actor was questioned by police of the state last week for more than 13 hours in connection with the case.
