On the auspicious wedding occasion of Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani with Ajay Piramal’s son Anand Piramal on December 12, we have witnessed the presence of most of the Bollywood celebrities, dressed in glittery and designer wears. But, Mamata Banerjee who is serving as the 8th and current Chief Minister of West Bengal since 2011, stood out from the crowd.
The evening was full of stardom and glitters all around. The guests were invited at the Ambani’s huge residence in the heart of Mumbai, Antilla. At the wedding, Mamata Banerjee was spotted wearing a beguni-border Dhaniakhali sari with a pair of plastic slippers.
The chief minister is known for her plain cotton sarees and the simple chappals. Mamata prefers her custom-made sarees with thin stripes and a narrow border. These sarees are popular as ‘Mamata Sarees’.
No one remembers seeing the Trinamool Congress leader in anything but her trademark cotton saree and chappals ever since she entered politics, which she carried along at the star-studded wedding of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal.
