Man beats father to death for taking alms from passers-by in Tamil Nadu

According to report of Investigation officer he said that Sithamalai used to go to Sukkampatti main road and take alms from passers by for food and tea.

A 47-year-old man beat his 75-year-old father to death for seeking alms from people. The man beat his father to death at Sukkampatti in Salem on Saturday night after they had a fight over latter seeking alms from people.

The police identified the deceased as Sithamalai, of Ganshi Nagar colony in Sukkampatti.

The man was a widower and he was residing alone. He was survived by two sons- Periyasamy and Murugesan, who resides in the same colony along with their families, and a daughter who is married.

According to report of Investigation officer he said that Sithamalai used to go to Sukkampatti main road and take alms from passers by for food and tea.

His sons had asked him not to beg for money but Sithamali still used to go and sought money from public.

On Saturday night, the officer further said that Periyasamy visited his father in an inebriated state and fought with him over taking alms from people.

Sithamalai abused his son and his son in rage beat him up with a wooden log and escaped from the house. Sithamalai suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot.

On Sunday morning their neighbours found Sithamalai dead and informed Veeranam police and sent the body to the Salem govt hospital for post mortem.

The Salem City police commissioner Senthil Kumar has formed special police to nab the murder and the further investigation is on.
