Mangaluru: Food blogger Nikhil Pai allegedly commits suicide

In a tragic news, famous cartoonist and food blogger Nikhil Pai allegedly committed suicide on the night of Saturday April 13. The 28-year-old foodie and founder of Three Hungry Men, who was a resident of Mangaluru, is survived by his mother, wife and sister.

The reason for the alleged suicide was not clear although few media reports claimed that it is due to personal reasons. His body was taken to AJ Hospital after found lying at his house at Malemar in the city, however breathed last while on the way.

Police officials at Kavoor Police Station have registered a case.

Co-founder of The 3 Hungry Men along with his friend Colin, Nikhil had earned much appreciation from foodies in Mangaluru for his reviews of restaurants in the city. His venture was Mangaluru’s first food reviewing blog.

The 3 Hungry Men even appeared on national television programmes on food and travel featuring Mangaluru. The group was known for hosting food eating competitions which were immensely popular among the youth.

Apart from being an ardent foodie, Nikhil was also an amateur cartoonist. Following his father’s death two years ago, he had taken up the management of Deepak Sales and Services fuel pump at Baikampady.
