Manipur: CM N Biren Singh tables budget estimates of over RS 20,000 crore

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tabled the budget estimates on Friday for 2020-21 while addressing the 10th budget session of the eleventh Manipur Legislative Assembly.

CM N Biren Singh is also the Finance Minister-in-charge, he informed that the total receipts for 2020-21 are estimated at Rs 20,146 crore.

He proposed a total expenditure of Rs 21,224 crore out of the consolidated fund of the state. He further also reiterates that out of the total expenditure, an amount of Rs 2,066 crore is charged expenditure while the remaining Rs 19,159 crore will be voted expenditure.

Singh further informed that the revenue receipts are estimated at Rs 18,083 crore and capital receipts at Rs 2,063 crore. He further informed that Manipur’s tax and non-tax receipts in the Budget Estimates are Rs 1,325 crore and Rs 257 crore respectively.

Receipt from state’s share in central taxes and duties is estimated at Rs 5,630 crore, the CM said.

He states that the current year could have an expected budgetary deficit of Rs 1,720 crore as against the deficit of Rs 1,405 crore in 2019-20.

Singh also states that the state government has kept education as their topmost priority.

“Tourism not only provide steady revenue but it also generates jobs for the youth,”Singh said.

He also announced that the state government is planning to develop tourist spots across the state and for this an allocation of Rs 18 crore has been made in BE 2020-21.
