Twitter is currently experiencing a disruption, preventing most users from refreshing or in some cases even loading their timeline feeds. Neither Twitter’s website nor its iPhone application are functioning correctly.
In the app, it is possible to send a tweet, but due to the inaccessibility of timelines, the author is frequently the only person who can see the tweet. Twitter Search is also inoperable. There are tens of thousands of disruption reports on the Down Detector website. Twitter conducted its fourth round of layoffs over the weekend, slashing 10% of its remaining personnel. It is unclear what caused the outage.
Several departments, including advertising and infrastructure engineering, were reportedly affected by the reductions, leaving the company with fewer than 2,000 employees. It had approximately 7,500 employees when Musk took over.
