A day after Shiv Sena activists attacked young couples on Marine Drive in Kochi, ‘Kiss of Love’ protest organizers announced that they are re launching the stir on Thursday against moral policing.

The Facebook page of ‘Kiss of Love’ announced that the protest would be held Thursday, at 4 pm at Marine Drive.

Meanwhile, SFI and DYFI activists have staged a protest at 10 am against Shiv Sena’s moral policing.

On International Women’s Day, a group of Shiv Sena activists, armed with sticks, had raided Marine Drive and heckled and chased away the couples.

Video footage aired by local Television channels show the men holding a procession, carrying sticks, flags and banners calling to put an end to romance under Umbrella. The activists then abused and chased away boys and girls. The leader of the team was swinging the cane to chase away the couples.

It seemed the police were merely watching the vandalism by the self-proclaimed morality protectors.

Central sub-inspector was suspended and eights officers were transferred for not acting against the moral police.

When the video became viral, police arrested six Sena workers on the charge of assault and preventing police from discharging their duties.

The first Kiss of Love protest was held on November 2, 2014 following the ‘Down Town café’ moral policing incident in Kozhikode. In the novel way of protest, people were encouraged to kiss and hug each other in public. The stir caught national attention and was repeated in various parts across the countries, including central universities.
