Market LIVE UPDATES, July 5, 2019: Sensex up by 119 points reclaiming 40,000 ahead of Union Budget

In comparison to the trends on Thursday, the headline indices–Sensex and Nifty–opened higher on Friday morning ahead of the Union Budget, that is scheduled to be tabled at 11 AM in the parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The Sensex recalimed the 40,000-mark, while the Nifty is trading nearing the crucial 12,000-mark. The Sensex is up about 108 points to 40,016, while the Nifty is trading 35 points higher at 11,980.

10:20 AM | Banking sector majors emerge as top gainers in early market trade on Budget Day; Airtel, TCS top losers 

Top gainers in the Sensex pack in early trade included IndusInd Bank, L&T, HUL, Kotak Bank, HDFC, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto and RIL, rising up to 1.14 per cent. On the other hand, Yes Bank, ONGC, Vedanta, NTPC, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, ITC, Bharti Airtel and TCS were among the losers, shedding up to 1.82 percent.


09:40 AM | Sensex reclaims 40,000 ahead of Union Budget, Nifty near 12,000

Sensex goes up by 119 points to reach 40,027 ahead of Budget presentation while the Nifty is trading nearing the crucial 12,000-mark.


09:20 AM | Pre-Opening Trade

Benchmark indices are expected to see flat-to-positive opening on optimism ahead of Union Budget. The BSE Sensex rose 78.72 points to 39,986.78 and the Nifty50 gained 37.90 points at 11,984.70 in pre-opening trade.


09:10 AM | Rupee Opening

In comparison to the trends on Thursday, the Indian rupee opened 6 paise lower at 68.55 a dollar on Friday morning.
