After facing a huge outrage over a discriminatory remark, the Bengaluru based Matrimonial ad agency apologised through a letter published on a Bengaluru based newspaper. Young Achievers Matrimony agency was slammed by people on social media on Wednesday, July 25, for listing ‘beautiful girls’ as a category to become ‘young achievers’ in one of their advertisement campaigns, which appeared on the front page of a prominent national daily.

Posted by the Matrimony agency, the advert described the ideal clientele for the meet to be ‘highly successful young achievers’ or be from ‘ultra-rich families’.

After the ad created a huge ire on Twitter, the advertisers said it was a mistake.

“We did not want to be discriminatory. It is not as though girls who are not beautiful are not allowed. The YAM matrimony meet was for young achievers and actually that is the only criteria,” said Mr Sreeram, one of the company employee.

Mr Sreeram also added that he was suggested to add the criteria by someone else during their previous meet only reserved for doctors as an avenue to include more girls who did not meet other criteria set by the company.
