A woman advocate, who was earlier allegedly thrashed by a BJP councillor for misbehaving at his restaurant, garlanded another controversy as she was booked for drunken driving and detained overnight at a women police station in Meerut after her vehicle allegedly hit two cars and two motorcycles.

On Wednesday October 25, Dipti Chaudhary was charged with rash and negligent driving and misbehaving in a public place. She was sent to the district hospital for medical examination, police said. She was granted bail on Rs 20,000 bond by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rahul Dubey Thursday afternoon.

According to police, advocate Chaudhary was under the influence of alcohol when she drove her hatchback mindlessly from Kutchery to Boundary Road, hitting two cars and two motorcycles on Wednesday night.

Later, when taken to the police station, she allegedly misbehaved there, claiming that the police inspector was acting on orders from the BJP.

Reportedly, Chairman of the Bar Association Praveen Kumar said several complaints about Chaudhary’s behaviour were received in the past as well. Observing her indecent behaviour, the Meerut bar association has cancelled her membership.
