The Mizoram government has postponed class-12 board examinations again which was suspended midway due to the COVID-19 pandemic and now decided to hold it from July 1, an official said. The pending class-12 exams will now be conducted between July 1 and 3, as per the notification issued by the Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) on Tuesday, June 9.
The examinations of Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) for remaining subjects in arts, science and commerce streams were supposed to be held from June 16 as per the revised schedule after the postponement of the exams in April.
The examinations have been delayed as the government had enforced a complete nationwide lockdown till June 22, the official said.
Around 4,700 students could not complete their board examinations in Economics, Chemistry, Sociology, Computer Science and Home Science, he said. The exams were suspended in March because of the lockdown.
Earlier, the MBSE had announced the resumption of the board examinations from April 22, for which students stood together and opposed the holding of the exams citing various inconveniences during the nationwide lockdown.
The authorities postponed it after an appeal made by the central government to put on hold the examinations amid lockdown. The compartmental exams for class-10 will also be conducted on July 1, the notification said.
