MLA Kuvarji Bavaliya resigns Congress, set to join BJP

Kunvarji Bavaliya unhappy with congress, resigns the party

Kuvarji Bavaliya, a senior Gujrat Congress leader and Jasdan MLA resigned from the Congress party on Tuesday, July 3. As per media reports, he was apparently unhappy with the party because of which he have his resignation this morning.

Recently when Congress had held a meeting to appoint presidents of its party units in 12 cities, Bavaliya, the former Rajkot MP, had expressed his discontentment with the decision. Later, he had openly expressed his displeasure with the state Congress leadership, saying that he felt ignored. This had led to speculations long earlier that he may leave the congress party soon.

Bavaliya, who enjoyed a clout in numerically strong Koli community in Gujarat, had represented the Congress from Jasdan as an MLA from 1995 to 2007. He was elected as an MP from Rajkot in 2009. In 2017, he was once again elected as the MLA from Jasdan constituency in Rajkot district.
