Gorhat (Gazipur), Feb 26 (IANS) BJP President Amit Shah on Tuesday said the Modi government can go to any extent to defend the country and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only world leader who has strong determination of zeo tolerance policy against terrorism.

Launching BJP’s Kamal Jyoti Sankalp Abhiyan – a massive nationwide outreach programme – at Gorhat village in Ghazipur in the politically significant state of Uttar Pradesh, Shah said only Modi can ensure country’s safety and security.

“In response to Uri, we did surgical strike against Pakistan and now for the self-defence we conducted air strikes. These two attacks have given a message to the world that Indian government can go to any extent to defend itself,” he said amid chants of “Baharat Mata Ki Jay”.

“Modiji has a strong determination of zero tolerance policy against terrorism. No world leader has such determination. Since he became Prime Minister, he has been following the policy of zero tolerance. To secure the country, surgical strike was done and to dismantle terrorism, air strikes has been conducted by Indian Air Force,” he said.

He said after today’s air strike, the family of those killed in Pulwama terror battack would have got comfort.

As the gathering was responsive with his aggressive speech, Shah asked them whether they felt country is safe under Modi or any other alliance.

“Who can give a befitting reply to Pakistan? Who can uproot terrorism? Who can make India a ‘Vishwa Guru’?,” he asked, as the crowd chanted ‘Modi-Modi’.

He said, “Only one leader can do all these things and he is Narendra Modi. He has fulfilled almost all the promises made in 2014.”

“Pakistan will now think at least 10 times before doing any terror activity in India,” he said hailing the IAF.

As part of Kamal Jyoti Abhiyan, Shah lit a lamp in the shape of Kamal (lotus) – the BJP’s election symbol – at the house of one of the beneficiaries of the Central government schemes, Rudranath, a Dalit of Gorhat village.

Along with villagers, Shah also took the pledge to bring back the Modi government in the 2019 elections.

There are an estimated 22 crore beneficiaries of the Modi government schemes, including the housing, the Ujjwala, opening of Jan Dhan accounts and the Swachh Bharat project, across the country.

Shah asked every party worker to take this campaign ahead and light lamps at the houses of government beneficiaries.

“The Kamal Jyoti symbolises the progress and prosperity brought into the lives of the beneficiaries due to the holistic and inclusive policy of the Modi government,” Shah said.

The BJP is putting all its might to strike gold in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party won 71 seats of its own and along with its allies, 73 out of 80 seats.
