Modi regime planning another strike in April, claims Mamata

Kolkata, March 11 (IANS) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that the Narendra Modi government of planning another strike and indicated that the long-drawn Lok Sabha election process was intended to facilitate this.

“..some journalists have given me the information that they are plan(ning) for another strike in the name of so called…so called…so called in April. What strike I will not say. That is why this (election) continues up to May 19,” she told reporters at the state secretariat-Nabanna.

Banerjee also said polling personnel and voters would face oppressively hot weather conditions due to the long schedule.

“I have never seen so long (a schedule),” she said.

Asked about the seven phase polls in the state, she said, “The seven phase polls will be in UP, Bihar and West Bengal. Actually these states will play a key role to form the new government. We are happy and (there is) no problem. It is the discretion of the Election Commission and I have respect for the constitutional body.”

Banerjee said her Trinamool Congress would win all the state’s 42 Lok Sabha seats.
