Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat became the first to visit the Gandhi Smriti, where Nathuram Godse killed Mahatma Gandhi, regarding which there are claims that he had left the RSS before he committed the act.
Gandhi Smriti is the venue for the book release function of Gandhi Ko Sajhane Ka Yahi Samay (This is the time to understand Gandhi). The author of the book is the former NCERT director, J.S. Rajput and the book was released by RSS supremo Bhagwat.
He also asked if anyone in the present times would atone like Mahatma Gandhi if their agitation went wrong and created law and order problems in his half-hour-long speech.
He further said that sometimes Gandhiji’s movement wet wrong but he knew his method was wrong and not his intent. He used to atone for that and take responsibility. But the movements that are going on today, if there are law and order problems is there anyone who will atone? Is there anyone who will take responsibility? If there is a lathicharge or firing, the ones who are killed atone, the one imprisoned has to face courts. But those who organise these movements either win or lose.
