In a tragic incident, an 18-year old engineering student allegedly jumped off the 15th floor of a building in Mumbai’s Bhandup on Saturday. The 18-year old was identified as a first-year student.
The incident took place around 1 pm when first-year engineering student Kusum Purohit jumped from her flat in Dreams Society on LBS Road in Bhandup West. People in the building compound alerted her family and took her to Central Hospital in the society premises where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
As per the reports, the incident happened a day after the father of the girl has scolded her over studies. As quoted in the reports, her father told police that they often used to have discussions over studies however the family is shocked at the intense reaction to a similar discussion this time.
Meanwhile police have registered a case. No suicide note has been found and further investigation is underway.
