Mumbai-Ahmedabad Special IPL 2026 Train: As excitement keeps rising for the IPL 2026 Final in Ahmedabad, Western Railway has now announced some special Mumbai-Ahmedabad train services, to manage the huge rush in passenger demand coming from cricket fans. With thousands expected to go all the way to the Narendra Modi Stadium for the title showdown on May 31, the railway zone has added more superfast connections between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
This decision is coming in the middle of a sort of never-before rush for train and flight tickets ahead of that much-awaited IPL final weekend. A few airlines too, including Akasa Air have announced that they’ll operate extra flights to Ahmedabad, since cricket enthusiasts are travelling from different regions of the country.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Special IPL 2026 Train
To make sure fans can move without much hassle, Western Railway will run two pairs of special-fare trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special
- Departure: Mumbai Central – 6:20 AM, May 31
- Arrival: Ahmedabad – 12:40 PM, May 31
This special train is planned so that passengers can reach Ahmedabad properly, on the same day of the IPL final. The train will feature a premium Shatabdi-style rake, including Executive Chair Car, AC Chair Car, Anubhuti Class and a Vistadome coach.
Train No. 09022 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special
- Departure: Ahmedabad – 3:10 PM, May 31
- Arrival: Mumbai Central – 9:45 PM, May 31

Western Railway has also announced extra services to manage the expected return rush after the final.
Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special
- Departure: Ahmedabad – 3:50 AM, June 1
- Arrival: Bandra Terminus – 12:15 PM, June 1
Train No. 09043 Bandra Terminus–Vatva Superfast Special
- Departure: Bandra Terminus – 11:45 PM, June 1
- Arrival: Vatva – 8:00 AM, June 2
These trains will consist of AC Three-Tier and Sleeper Class coaches.

The Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special will stop at:
- Borivali
- Vapi
- Surat
- Bharuch
- Vadodara

Meanwhile, the Bandra Terminus–Vatva and Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus specials will halt at key stations including Borivali, Palghar, Vapi, Vadodara, Surat, Bharuch, Udhna, Anand, and Nadiad depending on the direction of travel.
Ticket Booking Details
According to Western Railway officials, bookings for all IPL Final special trains opened on May 30 through:
- PRS reservation counters across India
- Official IRCTC booking platform
Passengers are advised to complete reservations at the earliest due to the extraordinary demand expected ahead of the final.
“Seeing the demands for IPL finals, we started these special trains. Today booking started and tickets are selling out fast, have almost reached 100 per cent capacity. We always keep assessing the demands and accordingly we run special trains, just like for holidays and festival seasons,” Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek announced.
