Congress party and consumers have come up with sharp accusations against Gautam Adani’s company after they noticed their electricity bills have shot up by as much as 18 per cent! But according to the company the increase has been due to the newly updated tariff rates put in place by regulators before they arrived to the scene.
The area that has been overtaken by the Adani Group was earlier under Reliance Infrastructure. Many residents have claimed that their electricity bill for the month of October has seen a spike. Apparently, several consumers witnessed an increase in their September bill too, the month from which the company started billing consumers.
In an interview to ET, Adani said, “There has been an undue perception created around Adani Electricity’s power billing by a senior political party leader through various platforms using irresponsible words like ‘loot’, little realising that this implies to rates which are decided by an independent quasi-judicial body MERC, after following the due process of public hearing.”
He then further went on to say, “The statements that have been made are totally irresponsible, false, incorrect, distorted, carry innuendos and level false and malicious insinuations”.
Various users took up to Twitter to share increment in their electricity consumption after Adani’s company took over the area.
My electricity consumption has been flat for years but my bills have jumped from around Rs 900 a month to Rs 1500 every since @Adani_Elec_Mum took over from Reliance. Shocked.
