‘My name is Lakhan’ singer Mohammad Aziz passes away in Mumbai

Veteran Singer Mohammad Aziz, popularly known for his song ‘My Name is Lakhan’, passed away at the age of 64 due to cardiac arrest.

The singer was on his way back to Mumbai from Kolkata when he suffered cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Nanavati Hospital where he was declared dead.

Mohammed Aziz, born on 2 July 1954, was an Indian playback singer in the Bollywood, Bengali and Odia film industries. He was known for rendering some of the popular Bollywood numbers like ‘My name is Lakhan’, ‘Teri Bewafai Ka Shikwa’ among others.

Initially, Aziz made his film debut in a Bengali language film ‘Jyoti’. Later he enter in Bollywood industry and got his first break when the music director Anu Malik got him to sing the song Mard Taangewala for the movie Mard, starring Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.

This versatile singer has sung almost 20 thousand songs in different Indian languages. Ha has recorded hundreds of devotional Bhajans and Sufi songs as well.
