Mysterious disease similar to coronavirus enters India, Know the symptoms

A Chennai-based eight-year-old child was recently diagnosed with a mysterious disease that killed many children in the US and European countries. Symptoms of this rare disease reported to be linked to coronavirus. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an alert on the same. According to the doctors, the disease caused swelling and caused rashes on the child’s entire body. Coronavirus symptoms were also observed in the child.

The child was admitted to ICU at Kamkoty Children’s Trust Hospital in Chennai. According to a report published in the Journal of Indian Pediatrics, the child had symptoms of toxic shock syndrome, coronavirus, pneumonia, and Kawasaki disease together. The child has recovered after giving immunoglobulin.

The disease damages important organs and spreads throughout the body causing the multi-system inflammatory syndrome.

According to the researchers, this a rare type of disease and named as a Paediatric inflatable multi-system syndrome.

In the last two months, the rate of childhood illness is 30 times higher in the areas of northern Italy where coronavirus cases were reported. The Us Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also confirmed the 145 coronavirus cases suffering from the syndrome.

Symptoms of the disease:

  1. High fever for five or more days
  2. Severe abdominal pain and vomiting or diarrhea problems
  3. Redness of the eyes
  4. Rashes on children’s hob or tongue
  5. Rashes on children’s bodies
  6. Change in skin color
  7. Difficulty in eating or having problems drinking anything
  8. Shortness of breath or fast breathing problem
  9. Chest pain or heartbeat quite rapidly
  10. Confusion, irritability or lethargy
  11. Swelling and redness in hands and feet.
  12. Swelling of the neck.
