In the IPL auction in Kochi on Friday, Tamil Nadu batter N Jagadeesan was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 90 lakh.
CSK released eight players ahead of the December 23 auction, including Jagadeesan.
The right-handed batter is the only one with five straight List A tonnes. So far in the IPL, Jagadeesan has batted just four times and scored 73 runs for CSK at a strike rate of 110.61.

In the Tamil Nadu Premier League, Jagadeesan has been a standout for Chepauk Super Gillies. Last season, he drove in 336 runs in 10 innings, ranking third in the tournament, with a strike rate of 125.37. He was sold to CSK at the mega auction earlier this year for INR 20 lakh.

Jagadeesan’s 277 off 141 balls against Arunachal Pradesh at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium set world records. It was the highest individual score in List A men’s cricket history. Alistair Brown’s previous best was 268 against Glamorgan in 2002. Jagadeesan’s 277 is also the highest score in List A cricket, surpassing Sripali Weerakkody’s 271 not out against Pushpadana Ladies in the 2007 Sri Lanka Women’s One-Day Cup.
