Nandita also shared a post on Facebook.

“I first read Manto’s stories when I was in college and was fascinated by how truthful and edgy the stories were, and how contemporary they wereI wanted to make a film on his life and his work. He believed having the courage to speak the truth was important. In his writing, he addressed free speech and women’s issues. He was also a feminist. Everything he says is extremely contemporary and addresses issues of today”, director Nandita said.

The film is currently being shot in Mumbai.

The film is a biographical account of writer Manto’s life and is set in 1940s. Mato is regarded as one of the greatest writers of short stories in South Asian history.
