Oli will attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oath-taking ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, today evening. Earlier today, President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena also arrived in Delhi to attend the ceremony.


Modi along with NDA leaders on Saturday met President Kovind and staked a claim for the formation of the government. Kovind asked Modi to decide his council of ministers and the date of his swearing-in ceremony.

The President also appointed Modi to the office of Prime Minister of India, a communique issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

Modi was earlier elected as leader of the BJP parliamentary party and the NDA parliamentary party at a function at Central Hall of Parliament which was attended by senior NDA leaders, Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states, 353 newly-elected NDA MPs and senior BJP functionaries including party chief Amit Shah and veterans L. K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be sworn in on 30 May for a second consecutive term following his BJP’s whopping victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2019. The to-be ministers have been invited to the PM’s home at 5 pm, an hour before the swearing-in ceremony.

Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid, President of Myanmar U Win Myint, Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Prime Minister of Nepal KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering and, Special Envoy of Thailand Grisada Boonrach are expected to be at the event.
