Popularized by Boston confectioner William Schrafft during Civil War, jelly beans were the first candies sold by the pound. April 22 is observed as National Jelly Bean Day in the United States of America. The day is all about enjoying different types of jelly beans.

Moreover, the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan was so hooked on jelly beans that he included jelly beans in his inauguration ceremony. The Herman Goelitz Candy Company was held responsible for red, white and blue jelly beans for the 1980 event of Reagan. The company didn’t produce blue jellies during that time. Especially for the inauguration ceremony, the company created a blueberry jelly bean for the first time. There are several fun facts about jelly beans which we would share on this occasion.
