Let me tell all such people who are unaware of a day dedicated to the cocktail, i.e., National Margarita Day which is celebrated each year on February 22 in the United States of America.

Margarita is the most-sorted drink and is the top cocktail in US cities. Therefore, it is not merely famous in the US but worldwide. Several restaurants and popular outlets have huge deals to offer to their customers, honouring National Margarita Day. But the day has more significance than one can imagine.

National Margarita Day is observed to honour the cocktail hence, it is made of a combination of tequila, triple sec and various fruit juices like lemon or lime.

No one really knows the actual origins of the event or day, even then also Margarita Day is grandly celebrated in the United States.

History of National Margarita Day:

The origin of the drink seems to be buried in history and no one really knows the truth.

Moreover, no event really confirms why the drink was created that led to the celebration of National Margarita Day.

One of the most common tales related to this drink states that it was invented by Rancho La Gloria restaurant owner, Carlos Herrera in 1938. Many claim that the cocktail was invented by Don Carlos Orozco in October 1941. It is believed that once Orozco’s daughter visited Hussong’s Cantina, a restaurant in Mexico, where Orozco was working as a bartender and requested him to make a special drink. He whipped her a cocktail in equal parts of tequila, an orange liqueur and lime. Since her daughter’s name was Margarita, he decided to name the drink after her.

However, it is still not clear yet who invented the drink, but is speculated to have been around since the 1930s and 1940s. Todd McCalla, founder and partner of a commercial real estate firm in Nashville, founded National Margarita Day to spread his love for margaritas across the world. Margarita tastes tart, tangy and sweet and is considered as one of America’s most beloved cocktails.
