Near dozen families rendered homeless after fire in Odisha’ Puri

A fire broke out at Puri’s Machhapada village under Delanga block district late Monday night gutting around 21 rooms, rendering 11 families homeless.

Locals alleged that the fire mishap was a fallout of past enmity between Halu Mohanty and Bhagirathi Swain of the village, according to Sambad English.

Properties worth lakhs including crops and valuables burnt in the fire. Fire personnel doused the fire after a five-hour long effort.

Police have detained a person for questioning in connection with the incident.
