Gujarat: PM Modi flags off Vande Bharat Express train between Gandhinagar and Mumbai

On Wednesday, six days after being inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the New Delhi to Amb Andaura Vande Bharat Express began regular service. The Indian Railways operate the Vande Bharat Express, popularly known as Train 18. It is a semi-high-speed, intercity, electric multiple-unit train.

At 5:50 a.m., train 22447 Vande Bharat Express left the New Delhi train station. “At 10:34 a.m., it will take 4 hours and 46 minutes to reach Una. This train’s top speed would be 130 km/h “declared Loco pilot Mahendra Kumar Meena.

Iqubal Singh, the train’s inaugural passenger, stated, “I am on a very wonderful journey. I have travelled from Dubai to Chandigarh. I was astonished when my friend purchased the train ticket.” Rashmi Dhiman, another passenger, stated that she had planned to use the new train ten days prior. “We are fortunate to have obtained the tickets. We shall go from Una to Dharamshala on this train. I am pleased to ride this train.”

On October 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vande Bharat Express from the Una railway station. This train will operate six times a week (except Friday).

Vande Bharat Express is a 16-coach train consisting of Executive Class and Chair Car coaches. It is a more evolved form of Vande Bharat than its predecessors, being significantly lighter and capable of attaining a higher speed in less time. It reaches 100 kilometres per hour in 52 seconds. The installation of the train will increase tourism in the region and provide a faster, more comfortable form of transportation.

This is the fourth Vande Bharat train in the nation, with the others operating between New Delhi and Varanasi, New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Gandhinagar and Mumbai. According to Railways, the new Vande Bharat trains include enhanced safety and comfort features, including as reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand material with wifi Facility, a three-hour battery backup, and GPS systems.

By August 2023, the Integral Coach Factory intends to produce 75 Vande Bharat trains. The roof-mounted package unit (RMPU) also contains a photocatalytic UV air purification technology for air purification.

The Vande Bharat Express is a futuristic railway that is revolutionising passenger travel in India.
