The new motor vehicle act has been implemented from Sunday, September 1 onwards and since then the higher traffic penalties have come into effect across the country and for those found to be violating the traffic rules.
Also, a new section of 199 A has been introduced according to which if a juvenile (below 18 years of age) is caught driving a vehicle, his guardian and the owner of the vehicle would be considered guilty. They have to face a steep fine of Rs 25,000 along with imprisonment up to three years.
