NIOS Exam Dates 2020: NIOS 2020 theory and practical exams for class 10th and class 12th stand cancelled, owing to COVID-19. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has announced that the board exams for the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) have been cancelled.
“Keeping in view the health of the learners, #NIOS public #exams scheduled to be held in July 2020 now stand cancelled. The results will be declared based on the assessment scheme finalized by the competent committee,” the Ministry tweeted through its official twitter handle.
If a student disagrees with their assessment, they will get a chance to appear in the next public or on-demand exam. However, the dates of these exams are not yet revealed. In an official statement, NIOS said that these exams will be conducted when the situation is “conducive”. The decision has been made in view of the rising coronavirus cases across the country.
Marking scheme of the remaining papers:
Average marks obtained in best three scored subjects for which exams have been conducted in the past exams will be awarded in the place of those exams which could not take place. This, however, is a one-time measure due to COVID-19 pandemic. NIOS also said that the result will be announced soon.
For students who have cleared in three subjects, the average marks will be calculated on the basis of best of two and for those who have past performance in one or two subjects, their theory performance will be calculated based on average performance in theory of last three public exams.
Students who were to appear for the first time and their tutor-marked assignments (TMA) or practical marks are available, their performance will be calculated according to the available TMA or practical marks. However, the TMA and practical marks secured by the student will be shown along with theory marks in mark sheet, as per the official notice.
Initially, the NIOS class 10, 12 board exams were scheduled to be held from March 24, however, they were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and were rescheduled. According to the new exam dates, the practical exams were slated to be held from July 2 to 10, 2020 and theory exams were scheduled from July 17, 2020.
The NIOS date sheet 2020 of 10th and 12th class for July-August exams was released on May 31, 2020. However, now the exams stand cancelled. Recently, CBSE and CISCE have also cancelled their pending exams.
NIOS admission dates for October 2020 ended but students have the opportunity to apply for block 1 NIOS admission 2020 till September 15, 2020. For NIOS October 2020 exams, fee dates will be out in the third week of August 2020. Students can fill exam form via online method tentatively till October 5, 2020, adding late fee dates to it.
