NIOS Class 12th Exams 2020: The National Institute of Open School (NIOS) has cancelled the class 12 exams for the students with special needs amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the country. According to the reports, the students will be marked on the basis of the project work and question-answer-based assessment.
The NIOS Class 12 exams were initially scheduled to be held in the month of March but were postponed because of the COVID-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown in the country. Examination boards such as the Central Board of Secondary Educations and the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations have also cancelled their class 10th and 12th board exams keeping the student’s safety in the first place.
According to a notification published by NIOS, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the NIOS to cancel the Senior secondary exams for students with special needs. The students would now be examined according to the project work/ question-answer-based assessment.

NIOS said that the decision to cancel the exams has been taken as CWSN students may not be comfortable to travel or comply with the instructions provided by the government with regard to social distancing. The institute has also said further that students might find it difficult to stay with masks for a longer duration of time during exams.
NIOS has also added that the guidelines, mode of submission and evaluation will be out on the official website of the board later.
