NIRF Ranking 2020: Check full list of top 20 institutes in India, top 3 from each category here

HRD Minister Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal today i.e., on June 11, 2020, released the NIRF Ranking 2020 list of the top institutes and universities in India for this year. The HRD minister went live on Twitter with Minister of State Sanjay Dhotre and AICTE Chairman Anil Saharsrabudhe to announce the top universities of India.

The top three institutes retain their position the same as last year. IIT Madras has topped the overall NIRF Rankings and the second and third spots were taken by IISc Bengaluru and IIT Delhi.

“I request the UGC Chairman to make it compulsory for all the universities to participate in the NIRFRankings from next year,” said the HRD minister in his live webinar.

India has over 45,000 degree colleges, over 1000 universities and around 1500 top institutes.

The top institutes and universities of India are judged on the basis of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation achievement promotion and inclusion, and perception.

Each of these parametres consists of sub-parametres as well. There were only four factors based on which the NIRF rankings were held in 2015 the first year of the educational institute rankings, now many more factors have been drawn up by the core committee.

The NIRF rankings are generally announced in April but were postponed this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is the fifth edition of the NIRF rankings.

The NIRF ranking includes a total of 10 categories i.e., overall, university, engineering, college, management, pharmacy, medical, construction, dentistry, and law.
