Noida Airport inauguration delay: The Noida International Airport project has faced another major delay, as the construction agency in charge could not finish the required work on time. The agency had earlier hurried the inauguration plans and even showed wrong progress to the Chief Minister.

Because of this, the Prime Minister’s Office stepped in and fixed December 9 as the opening day. A pandal was set up and many chairs were already arranged for the event. But once again, the work stayed incomplete, and all the plans fell apart.
Security Clearance Problems Stop the Event
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security refused to give security clearance because many important things were not finished. Due to this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation did not give the aerodrome license by December 4. Without this license, the airport cannot open. This became the fifth time the inauguration had to be pushed forward. Officials had hoped the airport would be ready, but the work kept falling behind.
The foundation stone for the airport was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 25, 2021. The original plan said the airport should be finished in three years, around September 2024. But the work did not move fast, and on March 10, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scolded the officials and set new goals. He wanted domestic flights to start by May 15, 2025 and international flights to begin by June 13, 2025. Even after that, the agency named Yamuna International Private Limited could not complete the work.
Government Pushes for Completion
The state government later gave a hard deadline of November 30 for the project. Senior officers, including the Additional Chief Secretary and Chief Secretary, visited the site to check everything. CM Yogi Adityanath himself visited the place two times in one month to push the work. During one of his visits, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and CISF teams pointed out problems like the emergency exit gate, watch tower and boundary wall.

The Chief Minister told BCAS to fix all these issues and send a security clearance report to the DGCA after the final inspection on December 2. But the report did not reach the DGCA on time. Because of this, the DGCA refused the aerodrome license and the airport could not open.
