Noida: Five-months-old female foetus covered with watermelon skin found dumped in drain

In yet another case of crime against female child, a five-month-old female foetus covered with watermelon skin was found dumped in a drain in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida on Monday, June 10.

Going by the reports, a sanitation worker had spotted the foetus earlier this week in Gejha village in Sector 93.

“Ravindra alias Kallu, sanitation worker, had alerted police about the foetus in the drain while he was working outside a house in the village around 11 am,” Station House Officer, Phase 2 police station, Farmood Ali Pundir reportedly said.

Upon receiving the information, an FIR in the matter has been lodged against unidentified persons under the Indian Penal Code Section 318 (concealment of birth by secret disposal of body) and the case is under investigation.

Meanwhile, the foetus has been sent for medial examination and further probe is underway.

In a similar case reported from Delhi last year, a foetus was found abandoned in the washroom of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. A case was registered under Section 318 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that deals with concealment of birth.
