In the cleanliness leap and in a bid to provide safe and hygienic washrooms to women, Noida city introduced its first “Pink Toilet” dedicated to females with facilities for sanitary napkins and baby care. The first-of-its-kind facility has vending machines for sanitary napkins, incinerator facilities and a feeding area for breastfeeding mothers.

The toilet, located in the Sector 50 market, was inaugurated by Noida Authority Chairman Alok Tandon and CEO Ritu Maheshwari on Thursday.

The Authority aims to open more such toilets in order to provide a convenient and safe place in markets flooded with women visitors and customers.

As quoted in the media reports, Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Noida Authority said that the toilet has been opened at a place that witnesses a significant footfall of women and girls. It will remain open from 8 am to 8 pm every day. Women and girls will be able to use it free of charge.

“More such toilets will come up in the city soon and their location is being surveyed. Ten more such toilets are expected to come up within the next two months,” she added.
