In an appalling incident, police have put a man from West Bengal behind the bars in a revenge porn case. The accused who is in his late twenties uploaded obscene photos of a woman who had ended her relationship with him 4-5 years back.
According to a TOI report, on May 3, at the Phase 3 police station in Noida, a woman filed a complaint that some obscene photos of hers were being uploaded on social media platforms, following which the Noida Police registered a case under the IT Act.
Police officials say that several links to the pictures were uploaded every day and the pictures were being widely circulated on social media platforms.
The complainant told the police about the possible suspects, and one of the suspects included this man with whom she was in a relationship years back.
As they focused on the suspect, the police investigations revealed the location of the man to be in Baruipur district in Bengal.
A team of police officials were sent there and they collaborated with the local police station and arrested the suspect. The police seized his phone, which has all the photos and videos which were uploaded on social media platforms. The team returned to Noida on June 6.
For the uninitiated, last week, the Noida Police implemented a new system wherein each police station in Noida will have a women’s safety desk and a team to investigate crimes against women. This team will also be trained to deal with cybercrime.
